Private Number

For domestic violence victims, journalists, or whistleblowers, they may need a telephone number that is not tied to them. Since the telephone number distribution is literally tied to your NIN, a second telephone number will not hide your identity. All private numbers start with 90z – therefore giving a wide range of numbers that one might need. Not everyone needs a private number, and if found to be using the private number for illegal purposes, you could still have charges pressed against you. Only Ka-Tel will know the true identity of the owner of the telephone number.

As you might guess, you will have a second voicemail box, and your name will not show up in Caller ID units. To protect the person even more, the system can use a generic announcement which will read “The person you are calling is not available. Leave a message” Caller ID name is “Name Unavailable”. The person can use SIM?-2 of their phone, but it would make more sense to use a second completely different telephone, and a new one so it is not tied to you directly.
