Welcome

Welcome to Kaldus Telecommunications (aka: Ka-Tel). Ka-Tel will handle all of the resources that involves communications. This will include domain services, internet services, telephone services as well as radio and tv services. Since internet, and telephone is considered as an essential resource, there is price control on these resources. In both of these instances, Ka-Tel will have a limited free plan. The free plan is there if there are no other option. Even then, the next plan up might also be considered as affordable.

Ka-Tel will handle domain services for the .ka domain. There will be select reserved domains. The only condition to looking for a suitable domain name is that the domain name must be at least 4 characters long. This allows 3 character domains (such as www.ka or gov.ka) to be used for special services. Domain services can also include hosting, but the hosting packages are for .ka domains only. If one wishes to have a domain, they must have an account with Ka-Tel. This will be simple enough if the subscriber has a GIN, and NIN.

Ka-Tel will provide for internet services. The goal with this will be to move everyone to fiber optic connections. Once this happens, there will be no modem needed, and the customer can simply plug their network server or router directly into the RJ45-WAN jack. BPL will require a modem which will be located in the communications room if there is one. All internet addresses will be IPv6, and will be static. This will be especially important in telephony services.

Radio will continue to use the airwaves. This will allow automobiles to have access to the radio network without requiring a data plan. Television on the other hand will be moved to IPTV (Internet Protocol TeleVision) as quickly as possible. Since every premise with electricity service will have a BPL service, this will allow every customer to have a free internet plan which will be enough for use with IPTV. This will allow for spectrum to be used for other resources such as cellular expansion, or emergency services. People with a 4:3 CRT TV will need to upgrade their television to an LCD TV. Most TVs sold nowadays will be a smart TV. This will however again require that anyone with a CRT TV to upgrade to LCD. Once the TV has smartTV functionality, the subscriber will be able to download an app to watch TV without the need for using the radio frequencies for television. All radio stations will use the airwaves, but must also offer streaming through the TV app on their host device. This allows someone to listen to a radio station that is on the other side of the country just by knowing their call-sign.

There will be telephone services. There are two types of telephone. There is cellular, and there is terrestrial. Terrestrial will use the internet lines to make and receive calls. All entities will be given a 12 digit telephone number. This will be based on the Business ID Number, or person’s NIN number. The ID Number will be the first 11 digits of the telephone number with the last number ranging from 0 (fax only), to 1-9 (voice). Voicemail services will be unified across all of the telephone numbers a subscriber will have. This means if they have 3 telephone numbers, they will only have the one voicemail number that the need to check.
