Where many telephone providers no longer support directory assistance, Ka-Tel feels that this might be an important tool. Yes, someone can use the internet to look up a possible match for a name, but having reliable access to the internet is not always an option. Also, some people may not want to read from the smaller screen of a cellular phone. In addition, one may have to refer to different sources to find what they are looking for. This is cumbersome to the consumer, and downright lazy on the carrier. Ka-Tel will do something different.
First, there will be an easy to remember and dial telephone number. This number will be 411. The subscriber can send an RCS, or SMS message with the name and location of the entity they are searching for, and will get results back. All results will be sent via RCS, or SMS. Since Ka-Tel does not charge for incoming SMS, this will not be an issue. However, most phones in Kaldus will be smartphones, and therefore likely to support RCS.
Second, is to visit https://411.tel.ka, and one could enter the same information as above, and get results. While they could do the same with other engines, Ka-Tel will only provide for domestic numbers, and not on an international scale.
Last, there is the means of calling Directory Assistance. This is done by dialing 411, and speaking the name of the entity, and location. If the system can’t understand you, there will be an option for a live operator. However, calling Directory Assistance will cost $2.50 for automated handling, or $5.00 for operator handled. With this in mind, the first option is probably best for people on the go.
