There will be a few features added on to radio stations to support commercial viability. All of these are intended to allow the radio station to interact with their listeners. The following are features that would benefit the listener.
Call Sign
Every radio station must have a unique 5 character call sign with the first caracter always being an R. For example, the national radio station for Kaldus is RKLDS. Therefore, no other radio station can have RKLDS even if the station was local only. This will come in handy for a couple of reasons as noted in this page.
Commercials
The radio station needs to make money. They must pay their employees, and negotiate deals with artists, and the music industry. With that said, there can be 10 minutes of commercial for every 20 minutes of content. The commercials must be general audience friendly, and can only be provided for businesses that has a Business ID Number for within Kaldus. This is to keep illegitimate businesses from using radio for whatever scam they wish to do.
Radio App
All Kaldan radio stations must connect with the Kaldus Radio app. This will be an app for Kal-OS, Android, iOS, Linux, MacOS, and Windows. The user will open the app, and provide the call sign of the station they wish to listen to. This will allow someone who might be visiting family on the other side of the state to get a clear signal to their favorite radio station. All radio stations must support internet streaming for this reason.
Website
A Kaldan radio station can choose to acquire their own domain, but they don’t have to. Instead, Ka-Tel will provide an fm.ka subdomain for every radio station. The owner can decide whether to host with this subdomain, or forward it to another website (such as their registered domain). The radio station should have content on what the station is about, DJs, and various shows. For example, Kaldus Radio will be https://rklds.fm.ka. For email communications, each subdomain can have its own fm.ka address, or acquire a domain which can be hosted by Ka-Tel. Nonetheless – all radio stations are guaranteed a website.
