Kaldus will support FM radio frequencies which is divided into 200khz increments and range from 88Mhz – 108Mhz. Each county can have their own set of radio stations. Obviously, radio signals are based on distance, and not county lines. With that being said, to reduce interference with neighboring counties, all radio antennas will be towards the center of the county. No matter what, 88.1FM is reserved for the national radio system. This station will provide for national notices, and warnings. For example, if there is a tornado warning, the resident can tune into 88.1FM and get updates. When there are not urgent warnings, or notices to call out, the station will be regulated by the government for other roles and purposes.
Every radio station will have a 5 character call sign. This call sign will always start with R, and will receive their own sub-domain (https://call-sign.fm.ka). This will promote them without having to worry about getting a special address. They can of choose to acquire their own domain for their internet site. They can then set the above address to forward to their domain. They are responsible for acquiring their own domain, and pay for their own hosting if they choose the domain option.
Radio stations will also be encouraged to add their station to the Kaldan Radio app which will use the device’s internet connect to connect to their station. Those that elect this policy will have a discount on their radio license. The goal is to phase out conventional FM stations with Internet based radio services.
