Services

Ka-Tel is the national ISP (Internet Service Provider). Since Ka-Tel is a monopoly, they will be required by law to provide an affordable internet service package. However, it will be reasonable to assume that there is a complete mess of various cables, and lines that is being used for the Internet. With that in mind, and with help from the national government, there will be an eventual rollout of Fiber Optic throughout the nation. This is to standardize the internet networks, and give everyone an even, and sustainable solution. As for now, there are many technological options – each with limits. These are noted as below:

  • RJ11/telephone: upgraded to 10MBPS DSL
  • 4G LTE: 100MBPS
  • 5G: 1,000MBPS
  • Coaxial (Cable): 10,000MBPS
  • Fiber: 1,000,000MBPS

As you can see, fiber optic is the best solution, and legacy-free as it would meet the demands of future services for years to come. Those with fiber to the premise, and terminated as a coaxial connection, they can choose to keep the coaxial fiber-modem, or replace the coaxial connection to RJ45, and they will be able to use any router/network server they choose. For coaxial, a modem will be required. The customer will plug their network into the RJ45 jack of the modem, and the coaxial plugs into the service line. For cellular, there will be a modem that would provide for services, but may have a hard time connecting to the network since most communications closet will likely be in the basement or an out of the way area. When cellular is the best option, there would be a priority rollout for fiber to those areas. When dialup/DSL is the only option, customers will be upgraded to DSL if they have dial-up. This will give the customer a better option than dialing into the POTS network to connect to the internet. The modem will have an RJ45-100MBPS connection however, this is only for connecting to the Internet. The home’s LAN will be dependent on the LAN infrastructure of the premise.
