Ka-Tel will have a number of pricing options. The prices will be reflective depending on the service offered. BPL will only go up to 100MBPS, whereas fiber-optic can go up to 10TBPS which is well beyond what networking technology can support. This will mean that Fiber will be future-proof. Any subscriber with another type of service will be converted to BPL if Fiber is not available. The prices are as follows:
- up to 10MBPS: Free
- Up to 50MBPS: $10
- Up to 100MBPS: $20
- Up to 250MBPS: $25
- Up to 500MBPS: $50
- Up to 1GBPS: $100
- Up to 2GBPS: $250 (requires 2.5GB+ LAN)
In addition, Ka-Tel will offer cellular internet for data only devices. The prices are the same, and while it may seem more expensive than a voice plan, the voice plan is only allowed on cellular phones. An owner of a data only device must acquire service for each of their devices at the above prices.
Every customer has an SLA (Service Level Agreement) where Ka-Tel must be able to provide for 75% of the speed paid for, and do so for 90% of the time. This allows for outages that are not in the control of Ka-Tel. However, the service can always go above the price paid for, and I am sure no customer will complain that they are getting speeds that are too fast. All connections are synchronous which means the upload speeds is the same as the download speeds. Anyone with dial-up will be upgraded to BPL.
