Internet

Internet is a powerful, and capable platform. With that in mind, Ka-Tel will be in charge of managing internet services within the nation. This will include being the only terrestrial ISP in the nation, and providing registrar services for the .ka domain. The policy of Kaldus defines that everyone has a right to express themselves, and make themselves known if that is something they choose to do. They also have the right to privacy, and confidentiality. Ka-Tel’s policy is as follows

  1. Everyone has the right to be known
  2. Everyone has the right to be unknown
  3. Everyone has the right to understand
  4. Everyone has the right to privacy protection
  5. Everyone has the right to the Internet

Right to Be Known

Domain registries cost money. Some people may not be able to afford a domain, and hosting of that domain, especially since they will also have to have a secured certificate for that domain. However, these should not be a factor in being known on the internet. With that said, every service address will have a single web.ka website. This will always be https://you.web.ka. If this is a family that will use this address, then one might consider something like https://doe-family.web.ka. If the person is a single person without a family, then they can use the web.ka address for their explicit purpose. As time goes on though, it would get harder to find a sub-domain that would not have been taken already. This is again since this address is free with every Internet account. The site will be a WordPress site, and FTP access will not be an option.

As for email, mail.ka addresses are free, but there is only one per NIN. This will reduce the chance of a bad actor using the free email service for nefarious reasons. A person can have as many Gmail addresses as they want. A mail.ka address – the person is restricted to the number of NINs they have. Since most people will only have 1 NIN, this means they have only 1 mail.ka address. If a bad actor uses a mail.ka address for nefarious reasons, they can be tracked down, and possibly prosecuted.

Right to Be Unknown

Everyone has the right to privacy. If they don’t wish to have a website, they can choose to not have a website. If they just wish to browse the internet, and use the network connection for watching television, that is their choice. A citizen does not required to have a website, and not even required to have an email address.

Right to Understand

In regards to TOS policies, every company offering services in Kaldus must have a TOS policy that a person with average intelligence should be able to reasonably understand. This policy must be up to date, and current. Simply put, people will need to know what they are getting into. If a company does not wish to do this simple thing, then they will not be able to have business in Kaldus.

Privacy Protection

The encrypted emails, and SSLs is a step toward that privacy protection. This goes even further. For example, in the directory assistance, the subscriber can choose what information they disclose (with minimum of name, and 1+ contact entry). This goes one step further. There will be WHOIS privacy that the subscriber can choose to elect. By having this WHOIS privacy, just the name, and email address is disclosed. This goes a long way in providing privacy. An email address is required to allow dispute communication with the owner, and someone challenging the right to ownership. This email address must always be accurate, and will be tested every year. Next, a company must get explicit permission to share your contact information with third-parties (data brokers). If they are found to violate this condition, they can be given a significant fine, and required to pay for services to remove them from data broker sites for 1 year.

Right to the Internet

Everyone has a right to connect with the Internet. With that said, Ka-Tel will have a free internet plan. This means every service that Ka-Tel offers will have a free option to allow the subscriber to be connected to the world to do what they wish to do with the internet. The free plan is up to 10MBPS which is the minimum standard for broadband access.
