Broadband over Power Line (BPL) is a process of carrying internet traffic over the electrical grid. The system that handles the local electric grid must be able to support BPL, but to comply with NSC, the only recognized internet port is RJ45. This means that telephone lines, and coaxial cables are not supported. Since everyone using the Internet will also have electricity, this will allow for the modem to have RJ45 port where the router will plug into. The BPL modem will then plug into the power outlet. From there, that is where internet traffic will carry through. There is a limit of 100MBPS. With that in mind, there will be an eventual rollout of fiber optic, but until then, BPL will be a viable option.
