All households will be provided with the option for free television. This will include all of the network stations that would be in the nation. The goal will be to provide for 50+ channels – therefore giving you with a number of channels. The system is designed to allow for up to 100 channels. With the capability of BPL (Broadband over Power Line), everyone will have sufficient services, even if they don’t live where there is fiber. This will require a SmartTV, or a smart TV adapter like a Roku, or Apple TV. Television services will be phased out with Over the Air, and instead will focus on using a SmartTV app to log into their account, and access all of their channels.
This is to free up over the air frequencies for other roles such as emergency services as an example. Since television just requires a RJ45 connection to get their television services, new TVs that comply with NSC will no longer have a coaxial port. Instead, one will just use their internet connection to connect their TV to the service. This will apply even if the customer has a free plan. Since BPL will be able to be supported everywhere there is an electrical grid, this should not be an issue for the subscriber. To acquire TV service, one will go to Services > TV > New. They will setup an account which they will use to log into the Ka TV app. They will receive network channels for free as well as 10 hours of recording. This is because OTA DVRs such as Tablo will not work in this network.
