Child Accounts

There might come a time when the guardian feels a child should have their own telephone service. With that in mind, they will need to setup a child account. This account will carry the child’s name as the person calling, and they will receive their own set of telephone numbers that is based on their NIN. For this to work, the guardian will need to log into their government portal, select the appropriate child, and select acquire GAON. The Business ID Number will be inputed, and the guardian will receive a GAON intended for the child. They will follow the same process as they did for their own account. They can activate online, or at a Ka-Tel store.

The child will be allowed to manage their account, with exception of the plan. The plan is defined by the guardian. This means the child can not add telephone numbers, nor change service features. They will be able to access voicemail, and set up restrictions, and rules. The child will need the guardian to set up any additional numbers if the child actually needs an additional telephone number. The guardian is responsible for the bill. If the guardian cancels services, then the child will have voicemail only services which is free. They can go online to check their voicemail, however since they do not have telephone service, they will have to call from another phone, or communicate through other channels.
